10 Things to Pack for your Summer Holiday in Yamba

Heading to Yamba over the summer? Follow our ten-point packing list and you’ll be making memories on your holiday in Yamba in no time.

1) Weather-wise, it’s hot so you don’t need to pack much in the clothes department. By day it’s all about boardies, bikini, sarong, repeat. If you’re up for a bit of Yamba nightlife, the dress code’s basically French-chic-meets-Boho-under-the-palms-trees-holding-a-surf-board-with-a-big-prawn-logo-on-it. That should see you right!
2) The water is aqua clear in summer– perfect for surfing selfies. So grab your waterproof camera, find a surfing spot and start posing – toes on the nose, mermaid hair flicks and underwater selfies. Don’t forget to share them with us at #myclarencevalley.

3) We love the long days of summer. It’s basically a free pass to loosen your necktie, buy a dozen Yamba oysters and watch the sun sink into the river with a chilled beverage on hand. BYO lemons.

4) It’s no secret Yamba has waves around every headland so pack a surfboard or five.

5) Inflatable giant beach toys are all the rage. They also make quite a statement as you wrestle them down onto the beach. The best we’ve seen are giant inflatable donuts, flamingos, unicorns, and even a pizza slice or two.

6) Two wheels are better than four so bring your bike. There are bike tracks galore around Yamba, basically running from one end of town to the other. Plus you’ll never have to worry about finding a car park.

7) We can’t quite offer the Great Barrier Reef, but there’s plenty of underwater sea life to marvel at right along the Clarence coastline so pack a snorkel. If you’re up for a day trip we recommend snorkelling at Woody Head and Diggers Camp on the high tides. There’s even coral!

8) Thongs, pluggers, flip flops, jandals – whatever you like to call them, rubbery open footwear are perfect for Yamba. You’ll also want walking shoes to explore the headlands, breakwall, and Yuraygir Coastal Walk, starting at Angourie.

9) If you’re into fishing, bring your rod. There are a multitude of fishing options, not to mention boat charters, river cruises, barbecue pontoons, paddleboat hire, and kayaking tours. You’ll be catching dinner in no time.

10) Yamba is a slow-paced, “g’day-how-you-going” kind of place so don’t forget to pack your good vibes.
