Cowper Art Gallery and Studio is located in the picturesque village of Cowper nestled by the banks of the Clarence River half way between Grafton and Maclean. The Gallery is situated in one of the Clarence Valley's beautifully restored old timber churches. The Gallery features changing exhibitions showcasing Northern Rivers artists and contemporary craftspeople.
Each exhibition is opened with an event and artist talks are often held during exhibitions. Gallery patrons enjoy the unique experience of listening to artists discuss their work and creative practice.
An extensive program of workshops are held in the Studio throughout the year. Workshops are taught by Gallery owner Kerrie Bowles and highly skilled visiting tutors. All workshops are exclusive to Cowper Art Gallery and Studio.
The Studio currently offers workshops in printmaking, painting, textiles, dyeing, basket making, weaving, bookmaking and photography. New workshops are added to the program regularly.
Workshop days offer a chance to learn new skills whilst enjoying a wonderful day out in the beautiful surroundings of the Gallery. Nourishing food and country cooking are all a part of the workshop day. With the river close by and the lovely country setting, participants leave feeling relaxed and nurtured.
