It’s amazing how a few hundred metres and 90 degrees of rotation can change the look and feel of a coast, and nowhere on the Clarence Valley’s beaches is this difference more striking than Brooms Head Back Beach.
Where the Main Beach is all ice creams and Holiday Park vibes, the Back Beach is more romantic and openly serene. Follow the path from the Brooms Head lookout as it leads down to a beach that feels like it could be miles from anywhere, when in fact it’s a stone’s throw from Brooms Head.
Swimming-wise, extreme caution is advised. Unpatrolled waters can be unpredictable. Choose patrolled beaches (Brooms Head Main Beach, around the corner, is patrolled during the holidys) for a safer experience and swim only between the flags. Avoid jumping into unknown water depths or areas with unseen hazards. Be aware of currents, rocks, and sudden drops, and always make sure you’re swimming in safe areas to protect yourself and your loved ones!
