Birds-eye-view

In this story we are talking to three local drone photographers who spend every chance they can in capturing the Clarence Valley from a bird’s-eye-view.

Stuart Murphy @stuart_murphy86

I’ve lived in the Clarence Valley for 12 years now, and I’m still no closer to running out of day trip destinations than the day I arrived. I’m big on camping and there are so many awesome spots within striking range of my home in Grafton. Recently I've enjoying photographing landscapes that I know very well from a completely different perspective, and sharing them with the support of a ‘thumpingly’ supportive arts community.

What is there not to love about the Clarence Valley? From golden scalloped coastlines and pristine beaches, to mighty winding rivers, lush tropical rainforests and national parks bursting with life, this place offers a diversity like no other, becoming a photographer’s wonderland. Taking to the sky with my drone allows me to gain a bird’s-eye-view and showcase the Valley’s beauty from a perspective as never seen before. There’s something magical about capturing a view that’s never been seen before.

My partner and I started flying drones last year and cannot put them down. Even though we have both lived here for so long, we did not expect to see what we could from above. The Clarence’s beautiful blue and green oceans and bushland; beautiful pink, purple and golden sunrises and sunsets. It’s something everyone should be able to see, hence why we love sharing our images. There’s just something about flying the drones, not too high, so you can still see the intricate details of earth. It is truly mesmerising.
